Art to Complement the Spare Room

They say that everybody needs a hobby, but I think the truth is a bit more complex than that. I’m so busy during the week that when Saturday rolls around, all I want to do is relax on a boat, floating leisurely down a local river. It’s not so much a hobby as an essential respite from the 9 to 5 work schedule, the dull meetings and oppressive deadlines.
It should come as no surprise that when my wife raised the idea of redecorating our spare room, I suggested a boating theme. As a history teacher, she had a special fondness and appreciation for American Indian wood art; we set about collecting as many pieces – both genuine and replica – as possible in a short span of time. I found a wooden canoe model online that complemented the new theme without overpowering the rest of the décor.
Appreciating Canoes In Your Home and Beyond

If you’ve ever visited the Pacific Northwest and seen any of the Native American art, it becomes immediately clear that canoes are an integral part of the society. They were the lifeline that made fishing and other forms of livelihood possible, and as such, these canoes are often ornate, decorative, and crafted by highly skilled artisans. This type of art is also present in countries such as New Zealand, where the Maori canoes (known as wakas) were just as pivotal to their way of life.
Whether you’re a tourist or a resident in any of these areas, it’s possible to appreciate the skill and time that goes into these amazing pieces of functional art. And while it’s often not realistic to bring an entire canoe back to your home in order to appreciate the craftsmanship, many people choose to purchase canoe models. These are scale versions of canoes, and they fit easily on the shelf in your office or the nightstand in your bedroom.

Get a beautiful addition to your assortment of nautical decors. A canoe model is one of the rare items in the boat model collection. It is a fine piece of artwork and is ideal for display.
Made from premium woods like cedar and mahogany, each strip of wood is refined and polished to perfection. The canoe comes with tow ores and the seats are upholstered with fine leather, much like the genuine article.
